MUMBAI, NOV 6: Pivotals rose further on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday on increased buying by FIIs. The S&P CNX Nifty started higher at 829.20 and rose further sharply to close at 840.80, showing a good gain of 11.65 over the last close of 829.15. CNX Nifty junior gained by 3.70 at 1406.20 as against the previous close of 1402.50. S&P CNX Defty ended 9.65 higher at 688.75 from 679.10 yesterday. S&P CNX 500 improved by 5.30 to 574.14 from the last close of 568.84 and CNX Midcap 200 moved up by 2.58 points to 504.55 from 501.97.The total volume of business was higher at Rs 1,295.08 crore from 643.40 lakh shares and in 1,88,669 trades. Debentures traded value was Rs 33.89 lakhs. The exchange witnessed 562 scrips advance, 400 scrips decline and 97 scrips remain unchanged. 32 securities had hit their price bands, the NSE said.
Reliance was the most actively traded scrip with a turnover of Rs 203.00 crore followed by Pentafour Software at Rs 159.89 crore, Saytam Computer at Rs 158.10 crore, ITC atRs 157.15 crore and SB at Rs 96.40 croreother actively traded securities were Zee Telefilms (Rs 62.20 crore), TELCO (Rs 47.07 crore), ACC (Rs 42.79 crore), Castrol (Rs 29.43 crore), HCL-HP (Rs 21.91 crore), L&T (Rs 17.80 crore), Tata Tea (Rs 17.72 crore), Glaxo (Rs 15.98 crore), Dr Reddy's (Rs 15.11 crore), MTNL (Rs 13.82 crore), ICICI (Rs 13.79 crore), TISCO (Rs 13.23 crore), BHEL (Rs 9.77 crore), Ranbaxy (Rs 9.44 crore), Raymonds (Rs 8.94 crore), Digital equipment (Rs 8.34 crore), Hind Lever (Rs 8.02 crore), Infosys Technology (Rs 7.75 crore) and Hindalco (Rs 6.96 crore).
The top five S&P Cnx Nifty gainers were ICICI Rs 44.40 (Rs 41.15), Reliance Rs 118.45 (Rs 111.25), ACC Rs 947.90 (Rs 903.85), TELCO Rs 126.95 (Rs 121.35) and Reliance capital Rs 39.75 (Rs 38.05).
The major losers were Cochin Refinery Rs 129.50 (Rs 131.00), Infosys Rs 2421.10 (Rs 2447.35), Hindalco Rs 497.65 (Rs 501.05), Arvind Mill Rs 30.85 (Rs 31.00) and NIIT Rs 1266.85 (Rs 1271.75).
DSE up 10 points: Select heavy weightshares pushed up the index on Friday at Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) as most specified shares closed mixed. The DSE index (base 1983) closed 9.70 points higher at 649.86.
Cement major ACC gained heavily and closed Rs 49.40 up at 952. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) gained Rs 9 to close at 243 while Reliance Industries was up Rs 8.75 at 120. Ranbaxy Labs moved up Rs 7.40 at 467.40, Tata Tea Rs 4.25 at 297.75, TISCO Rs 3.75 at 126.05 and Hero Honda Rs 3 at 550. Other specified shares which gained included Apollo Tyres, Bses, Larsen and Toubro and LML.
Among the losers were Bajaj Auto, Bata India, Castrol, HCL Infosystems, Hindustan Lever, Satyam Computers and Zee Telefilms. The volume of trading was fair.
