Kurlon set to unveil two new products next year

Bangalore, Nov 7: The Rs 150 crore Kurlon Ltd's poly fibre filled mattresses will hit the domestic market next January. The Bangalore-based company has also decided to unveil posturepedic inner spring mattresses next year.

With the launch of these two range of products, it is eyeing a marketshare of 75 per cent in the country. The current marketshare is 65 per cent in the about Rs 190 crore branded domestic mattresses segment. The export is also likely to go up from the present Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 5 crore.Kurlon vice president (marketing) S Sunder Rajan said that the company had already entered into joint ventures with DuPont and Sealy Mattresses Company of the US for the purpose. Having an equal partnership in these two ventures, Kurlon is setting up two greenfield manufacturing facilities at Dobaspet in Karnataka with an outlay of Rs 15 crore.Kurlon vice president (production) K Madhavan said: ``The company is also planning to put up plants in north India. It has identified places like Gujarat and Haryanato this effect.''

Currently it offers sheets, pillow covers, terry towels and soft luggage.The company is also upgrading and expanding its existing facilities located at Bangalore, Bhuwaneshwar and Hosur. For the purpose, it will pump in about Rs 8 crore. Kurlon on Saturday unveiled an improved version of mattresses with Advanced Centre Densification (ADC) technology, which was developed in-house. The ACD technology strengthens the mattress at the centre which enables it to bear any amount of body weight without sagging.
