Seeds shortage may put UP in a bind
Amidst an all-round scarcity of essential commodities and an unprecendented skyrocketing of prices, Uttar Pradesh has been afflicted by an acute shortage of seeds which may have ominous portents for the forthcoming rabi season.

The joint venture between Unit Trust of India (UTI) and Nomura Securities Co is heading for the rocks. The recent turmoil at both the financial powerhouses, coupled with second thoughts at UTI's end, has rocked the alliance.

Futures committee moots 5% initial margins
The JR Verma panel appointed by SEBI has suggested a set of stringent guidelines for index-based futures trading. The group report on risk-containment measures for future trading has recommended that for the first six months of trading the initial margin shall not be less than 5%.
