Deustche Bank's new country-head:

Deustche Bank on Wednesday announced the appointment of Javad Shirazi as regional country-head (India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka). Shirazi will take charge on the 16th of this month. He will also replace present Deustche Bank (India) country manager, Harkirat Singh. Deustche Bank country managers in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will report to Shirazi.

NM Rothschild opens local office:

NM Rothschild & Sons on Wednesday announced the opening of their representative office in the country with Shankar Dey--formerly with Peregrine India--as chief executive.

StanChart's new privelige:

StanChart will offer its credit-card members the privelige of accessing the the ATM networks of other banks. StanCharts' Visa cardholders can now use the ATMs of HongkongBank while MasterCard cardholders can use that of Citibank and HDFC Bank.

KDT Mutual's application rejected:

RBI, in exercise of the powers conferred on it underthe Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, has rejected the application for certificate of registration submitted by KDT Mutual Benefits Co, a Lucknow-based financial company. As such, the company cannot transact the business of a non-banking financial institution.

RBI mops up Rs 150cr via 3-day repo:

The RBI on Wednesday mopped up Rs 150 crore through a three-day fixed rate repo held on November 11 in government of India dated securities for parties holding SGL and current account. The interest rate was pegged at 8 per cent.

RBI announces 91-day T-bills auction:

The RBI has announced the auction of 91-day government of India treasury bills for a notified amount of Rs 200 crore. Tenders should be submitted in the prescribed form on November 13, 1998, and payment will be on Saturday, November 14, 1998.

14-day T-bills auction:

RBI has announced the auction of 14-day government of India treasury bills for a notified amount of Rs 100 crore. Tenders should be submitted on November 13,1998 and payment on November 14.
