Pune, Nov 17: Thermax Babcock & Wilcox (TBW) will be able to improve sales order processes and cycle times for its total processes by 15 per cent to 20 per cent with the implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) in the company, company managing director Prakash Kulkarni said. Announcing the implementation of ERP solution by Baan Company NV he said, the company would gain an edge over its competition as a result of this move.According to Baan Info Systems India Pvt Ltd executive director (sales and operations) Gopal Madnani, this would serve as a benchmark to other players in the industry.
Thermax Babcock manufactures and installs a range of steam generation systems for captive power and cogeneration and has registered a turnover of Rs 132 crore in fiscal 1998. The implementation of ERP in Themax Babcock was completed in twelve months by using Baan's Dynamic Enterprise Modeller, Madnani said. This has reduced implementation time and costs, he added. The Baan ERP software has India localisationwhich covers the entire spectrum of the country's statutory and tax laws.
Baan has a 22 per cent share of the domestic market with 55 installations. It is a leader in the manufacturing segment and is among the faster growing ERP companies in India with customers like Sundaram group companies, Godrej & Boyce, Blue Star and L&T among others. So far around 250 companies across the country are in the process of installing ERP and only around 30 of them have gone live.
