New Delhi, Nov 19: The government will instruct the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to procure paddy and rice affected by natural calamity in Andhra Pradesh even if it is broken or discoloured.This assurance was given by the food and consumers affairs minister SS Barnala to Lok Sabha speaker GMC Balayogi who took up the issue of damage to high yielding crops affected by recent cyclone, floods and erratic rainfall in the state, a Lok Sabha release said on Thursday.
Barnala said he would send one high official of the ministry to the affected coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh to have a first hand knowledge of the situation and to help coordinate the procurement measures.
