New Delhi, November 19: Ballarpur Industries' AAC division, which manufactures construction material, expects to record profits by the end of this fiscal by implementing major turn-key projects. The division is also trying to create a brand name Biltec -- BILT with ecology control material, for the autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) which is made from fly-ash. The company changed its focus from being just a supplier of building materials to stress on turnkey projects.
The AAC division, which manufactures construction material using fly ash, is likely to record profits this fiscal with the turnover expected to increase to Rs 16 crore from Rs 13 crore the previous year. The AAC division is now part of the recently set up BILT Chemicals.
Bilt, the flagship company of the Thapar group, had set up the division in 1992 with a capital investment of Rs 47 crore to manufacture construction materials like blocks, pre-cast reinforced slabs and wall panels.
The division has a technical collaboration withGerman company, Ytong International GmbH.
The division has decided to enter into turnkey construction projects from being suppliers of building materials, Suresh Sharma, the division's general manager said. Its first turnkey project -- Sergeants Quarters for Air Force -- is being inaugurated on Friday.
Though the company has been selling AAC since 1992-93, it decided to become a major player only last year.
