Buyback regulations are repetitive
The Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 1998, has inserted Sections 77A and 77B which provide for share buyback. The wording of sub-clause 77A 1 (II) in the ordinance is different than the wording of Section 69 of the Companies Bill, 1997.

The Indian Banks' Association's offer of a 8 per cent wage hike to around nine lakh bank employees is more than justified against the backdrop of mounting pressure on banks' profitability.
Controlling inflation
Winter is the season of hope. With prices of vegetables and fruits declining, inflation is on the wane. On a point-to-point basis, the annual rate of price rise declined to 8.1 per cent on November 21, down from 8.85 per cent in the first week of that month.
