Mumbai, Dec 7: Autodesk India, one of the leading suppliers of PC design software and mutlitmedia tools, sees a greater role for the company in India. As part of its India strategy, Autodesk has decided to focus on an array of services in the country. The company is a subsidiary of the Autodesk Inc of the US.As part of the strategy, Autodesk is launching new products such as Architectural Desktop for 3D architectural designs for architects and Actrix Technical for any type of technical diagramming, flow-charts, facilities management etc.
The company, the fourth largest PC software major in the world, has core strengths in 2D and 3D products for architectural design, civil engineering design and surverying. The company will launch a series of products for the infrastrcture sector.
Talking to The Financial Express, S Sridhar, managing director, Autodesk India, said that his company was highly bullish on India as a market. ``We are bullish on the Indian market as our solutions are diverse primarilyaimed at core sectors. With increased importance given to infrastructure development by the government, our products can play a major role in helping the organisations building up their own requirements,'' said Sreedhar.
Once the infrastructure was in place, the industrial activities will definitely grow faster, he said. ``We offer a slew of solutions to participate actively in the industrial growth,'' Sreedhar said.
Autodesk recently organised the Autodesk Developers Network (ADN) for its users in Mumbai. He said the company looks forward to tremendous growth in the coming years.
``On the company's plans for E-commerce, Sreedhar said ``We are not in E-commerce business but we do sell some of our products on the web in the US. We also help our ADN members by hosting a special web site for internet shopping.''
Autodesk has sold more than 50,000 units of AutoCAD Map software world over ever since its launch a year ago. The product is a highly popular tool for creating, maintaining, and producing mapsand geographic data. In fact, early this month, it shipped 100,000th copy of Mechanical Desktop, another 3D modelling software to Tokyo Electron Ltd, a leading supplier of semiconductors.
Autosesk has worked over the years changing the geographic information system (GIS) industry by providing easy to use, cost-effective software to help business and governments manage their assets and infrastructure. Among other products are mechanical design, mapping and video production for Web content development.
