Philips unions to urge Dhoots to forsake Salt Lake unit bid
The ongoing imbroglio between Philips India and its unions has taken a new twist with the later now deciding to approach the Dhoots of Videocon to terminate its agreement to buy out Philips' colour television (CTV) unit in Calcutta.
Ispat Telecom's $800m satellite project cleared
The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) cleared the $800-million satellite project of the Ispat group for the second time in a month. The proposal of Ispat Telecom to launch, operate and maintain an Indian-owned satellite for global mobile personal communication system (GMPCS) had come back to the board.
Centre unveils excise scheme for processed-fabric units
Around 3,000 to 4,000 textile fabric processing houses, 90% of which are in the medium and small scale sector, will benefit from the simplified excise scheme notified by the government on Friday.
