Citizen may not pick up stake in HMT: Citizen of Japan, the world's leading watch maker, is not keen on picking up stakes in the public sector major Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) when it comes up for disinvestment, a top company official said. Speaking at the launch of Citizen's new millennium range of watches called Eco-drive in Delhi, Citizen Watches Company president Hiroshi Haruta said, "The culture and standards of Citizen and HMT are not synergistic, hence we would not like to become a stake-holder in HMT." On the new Eco-drive watches, he said they incorporate revolutionary technology that conserves energy using ambient light off any light source - sun, moon or even a candle.APIDC puts 62 units on block: In an unprecedented move, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (APIDC) has decided to put on the block 62 units, promoted and funded by it but have turned sick and beyond revival. In case there are no takers for these, then the corporation is not averse to writing offthe losses in a bid to reduce its NPAs, APIDC chairman N Yethiraja Rao told press persons on Saturday. The total outstanding dues amount to over Rs 70 crore from these 62 companies all which fall within the ambit of Section 29 of the Revenue Recovery Act, he said. The corporation is preparing to call tenders for them soon.

The alliance will address the needs of key industry sectors like iron and steel, metals, mining, oil and gas and power, a company release said.
