MasterCard appoints director
Gurpreet Singh has been appointed as director, Acceptance Development, for India by MasterCard International. In his new role, Singh will coordinate with MasterCard member banks to identify new areas of merchant acceptance as also to expand the existing merchant acceptance base in India for MasterCard International's range of payment products including credit and debit cards.

Commenting on his new role, Singh said: ``My primary goal at MasterCard International is to more than double MasterCard's card accepting merchant base in India in the immediate future.'' A seasoned veteran in the card industry with over 20 years of experience, Singh has held several important positions at the American Express Travel Related Services. Among other assignments, he was responsible for merchant base development for the brand in the western region.
