"My dream is to set up a charitable hospital"

Punam Mohandas
Beautiful and aesthetic--these are the qualities I look for in people, places and things. I love perfection and style.

I dislike betrayals, dishonesty and a lackadaisical approach to work.I love splurging on music--adding to my collection of CDs and cassettes, or even records. And books, especially about enrichment of the self.

I have a soul connection with London. I love the sense of connection and vibrancy that it offers at every level. My father's posting to London when I was just five years old remains the most memorable (time). It is where I can catch up with all the latest movies on the big screen (I hate watching them on the video) and, of course, shows. New York is a place that just gobbles me up year after year after year. Depending on my mood, that's another city that is just so amazing and alive.

Since I believe in Buddhism, I'm fairly detached from the materialistic. One's dreams have to be realised from within. But yes, money has given me all my comforts. I think you should have enough foryour needs and indulgences. As long as it provides for my basics, I'm not avaricious after that.

I was scared of this question. But amazingly, I don't really invest my money. I believe in living for now and have tremendous faith that God will always continue to provide for me in the future if I continue to work hard. After retiring... what? Please don't ask me as I don't even want to think of it. Regarding the way I speak? I think I was just born with it. Although the diction may have something to do with my early years in London... I don't know...

My best memory of childhood is living in the world all carefree and unfettered. After we returned to India, I've never had to leave Delhi. The 1980s, with my exposure to culture, shows and a shift from news to live commentaries, was the most happening decade (of my life).

If someone were to leave me a million dollars? I would set up a trust that could help the handicapped, war widows and animals. Also donate money to a few temples/gurudwaras. My dream is toset up a charitable hospital according to world class standards.
