Spot pepper prices firm

Kochi: Kochi pepper market was firm in the spot trading as the exportable quality had declined in the month. The new stock will be available in January, February, according to sources in Ipsta. The futures were doing the same as last week.Ipsta needs to do a lot of facilitating work to start dollar trading at the International Pepper Exchange. It calls for the Ipsta board to meet and amend the bylaws, said the source. Dollar contracts at the exchange will thus take some more time to commence. There are no new foreign members at the exchange yet, but Ipsta has received enquiries from about 15 parties who have evinced interest in getting a membership, he said.
