Mumbai, Dec 24: Thermax Ltd, the Pune-based engineering and environmental firm, has entered into an agreement with German multinational Bayer for marketing the latter's Lewatit range of premium grade of ion exchange resins in the country.These resins find application in various industrial processes like deashing and decolorisation in the sugar industry and brine decalcification in the chlor alkali industry. They are also used in the recovery of precious metals from effluents for instance in printed circuit board manufacturing where a lot of copper is lost in the waste stream.
Thermax managing director Abhay Nalawade, said, "Thermax Chemicals sees the marketing of Bayer resins as a logical extension of its chemical business. The potential for these resins is significant especially in sugar, paper, chlor alkali and metal recovery industries. The tie-up will have a combination of superior product range and dedicated local expertise and technical services taht will help tap the true potential of the marketfor resins in the country".

The company employs over 1,45,000 people worldwide and has annual sales of DM 55 billion. Thermax Chemicals is a key major exporter of various water treatment chemicals in the field of ion exchange resins, fuel conditioning chemicals and oil field chemicals globally.
