Satyam Infoway launched its ready-to-use Internet serviceSatyamOnline - in Bangalore on Monday. The company has also announced its alliance with Intel to bundle the company's online services with Intel architecture-based desktops. Satyam Infoway vice-president Pradeep Lakshmanan said: "The facility of pre-bundling the connection will enable a new computer buyer to get an Internet account with minimal effort." The company plans to launch the Internet service in cities like Hubli, Mangalore, Mysore, Davangere and Bellary shortly. It has already created an all India distribution network consisting of over 200 sales partners and are making the package available in about 150 retail outlets.
Rochees plans to start mineral water and whisky output:
Beer maker Rochees Breweries Ltd plans to venture into the mineral water and whisky segments by 2000, managing director Iswar Das Moolrajani said. "We plan to launch our mineral water and whisky in the market in two years' time," he said at theinauguration of the company's new brewery at Alwar in Rajasthan. The company has invested over Rs 30 crore in the plant, in which NRI investment is as high as Rs 5.25 crore, he added. The company has already tied up with United Breweries to produce the `Kingfisher' and `Bullet' beers for them at the plant.

Chem Systems, a management consultancy firm for the chemical, petrochemical and petroleum industries, will operate as part of IBM Global Services Consulting Group in India. It will support the IBM Process and Petroleum Industry Solutions team in helping chemical and petroleum industry clients harness change for competitive advantage. The association places IBM in a position to offer a single point solution from business strategy to operational effectivness to complete implementation for its clients in chemical, petrochemical, petroleum and refining segments in the country.
Privatisation of Internet access services conference:
Atwo-day conference on privatisation of Internet access services and its consequential impact in India will start from January 1, 1999, in Mumbai. The meet is being organised by the Indian Merchants' Chamber, User Community of India, Trade Association of Information Technology, National Association for Computer Trainers and Association of Computing Machinery. Speakers will deliver lectures on distance learning over the Internet, ERP over Internet, corporate IT policy, disaster management, data recovery management and venture capital for IT sector. The summit will also discuss the impact of the opening up of the ISP business.
