Broker's panel sweeps ASMA elections

Mumbai, Dec 31: With the broker's panel led by Jayesh Shah winning all eight seats allotted for the brokers, in the election for the governing board of Ahmedabad Seeds Merchants' Association (ASMA), the speculation regarding who will don the mantle of the next president is laid to rest.

Jayesh Shah, ex vice- president of the association, has been elected in the much touted election which was held today. Incumbent vice- president Ramesh Shah was the only loser of broker panel.

In other panel too, all the candidates from panel of Jaysh Shah has been elected to the board. Kanubhai M Thakkar and Ishewarbhai Thakkar from the ready panel has been elected. Three ready panel candidates including ex- president Ishwarbahi Patel, Manohar Patel, and Iswarbhai J Patel have lost the contest which was held first time in the last ten years. In associate panel, Bipin Shah and Ashwin Patel have been elected, while Vasant Vora has lost.

In other panel, incumbent president Kailash Gupta has retained his seat aftercancellation of his rival`s form.

In the crusher`s panel, Suresh Kantawala has won the seat uncontested being only candidate from this panel.

Emerging from the counting room, a beaming Jayesh Shah said the new team will have to strengthen ASMA.``Transparency in trading as well as in administration is our top priority. The newly constituted board will elect the new president, vice- president and other office- bearers in the next week. We have to make trading more transparent. ASMA will have to regain business confidence, he added.
