NEW DELHI, Jan 1: Daily arrival of wheat from the neighbouring states in Delhi mandies was reported about 10,000 bags, but prices ruled firm on support from flour millers while suji dipped by Rs 12 at Rs 800 per bag as festive demand was over.Common basmati rice tumbled down by Rs 100 at Rs 3500-4300 a quintal on selling pressure of new basmati coupled with slack demand from exporters. Maize and bajra prices ruled firm on good demand from cattlefeed units. On inflow of about 4-5 lorries of new arhar from Gujarat and Maharashtra, it was traded at Rs 2150 a quintal. Gram Rajasthani and inferior moong slipped by Rs 25 a quintal due to weak demand from millers. Urad Rangoon improved by Rs 15 a quintal due to restricted supply.
Mustard oil expeller plummets further
Mustard oil expeller further plummeted by Rs 50 a quintal on weak UP advices as new mustard lahi at Bagpat line was traded at Rs 1350-1400 a quintal. Soyabean and sesame oils fell by Rs 30-50 a quintal on weak Mumbai advices coupled withslack demand from millers. Coconut oil Pariwar slipped by Rs 10 a tin while groundnut oil mill delivery climbed up by Rs 50 a quintal. Mumbai: Groundnut oil declined further sharply on the oilseeds market here on Friday due to heavy arrivals in the face of restricted demand. Imported palm oil and linseed oil also declined on poor support.
In the edible section, groundnut oil fell by Rs 5 to end at Rs 427 from the last close of Rs 432. Imported palm oil dropped further by Rs 2 to Rs 340 from Rs 342 due to poor local demand coupled with weak overseas advices.In the non-edible section, linseed oil reacted by Rs 5 to close at Rs 460 from the previous close of Rs 465 on poor paint industries demand, while linseed bold at Rs 1700, castor oil at Rs 382 and castorseed at Rs 1738 held steady on scattered dealings.
In the futures market, castorseed March contract opened better at Rs 1449 and rallied further to Rs 1454 on heavy export demand. Later, on stockists offerings, fell back to close at Rs 1447, stillmarginally better than the last close of Rs 1446.
Sugar slips
On panic selling by the millers, mill delivery sugar further slipped by Rs 10-15 a quintal. As compared to Tuesday prices, mill delivery sugar Mawana dipped from Rs 1445 to Rs 1430 a quintal. Nadhai sugar was traded at Rs 1300, Bajpur at Rs 1200 and Titabi at Rs 1360 a quintal.
Zeera suffers
Zeera and soanf, on the local market suffered a sharp setback of Rs 100-300 a quintal on weak Unjha advices. Inflow of new zeera and soanf is expected by the end of current month. Poppyseeds of Ramganj crashed by Rs 500 a quintal due to lack of buying at higher rates.
Pistachio Peshwari flared up by Rs 50 at Rs 750 a kg due to fall in production.
Gold steady
Steady-to-subdued conditions were witnessed on the local bullion market on Friday.
New York silver future held steady at 503 cents an ounce and there was no inflow of imported silver but in view of 2000 kg local stock, spot silver .999 fineness slipped by Rs 5 at Rs 7510a kg due to weak upcountry demand. Silver weekly delivery remained unchanged at Rs 7495 a kg.On steady overseas advices coupled with slack demand, gold biscuit and standard mint gold held steady at Rs 4235 and Rs 4245 per 10 gram, respectively.
Citric acid falls further
As local market was expected to receive two containers of citric acid China, its prices fell further by Rs 50 at Rs 3800-4250 per 50 kg. Thus, it has lost Rs 350-400 in last few days and the traders said that further decline of Rs 250-300 was expected.
Zinc oxide, as it arrived from number of companies while the consumption remains poor, prices edged lower by Rs 2 at Rs 60-68 a kg. In wax section, press wax improved by Rs 1000 at Rs 27,500 per tonne due to poor fresh inflow as against the better local demand.
Menthol bold for December delivery quoted in between Rs 390 and Rs 625 per kg whereas the deals were made at Rs 440 per kg. This has resulted in a sharp losses to traders.
Copper wire scrap edges up
As accordingto traders, HZL had slashed its zinc slab sale prices by Rs 1.50 per kg and HCL also reduced copper sales prices by Rs 2 per kg, these metals registered further decline in the prices in the local market. Zinc slab fell by 25 paise and copper rod, wire by 25 paise per kg.
On the other hand, copper wire scrap edged up by 50 paise per kg on Shahdara industrial buying. Nickel plate (4x4) edged up by Re one and size (4x24) of Inco declined by Re one at Rs 297 per kg. Tin ingot, due to poor offtake was unchanged at Rs 346 a kg.
Potato declines
Potato prices fell yet again by Rs 10-20 per 80 kg in the Azadpur mandi mainly because of poor offtake. Otherwise the inflow to the mandi had declined to 150 trucks. New potato of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana was pegged at Rs 180-220 per 80 kg while Punjab variety was quoted at Rs 180-240 per 80 kgs.
