New Delhi, Jan 5: Reebok International Ltd, UK, and Reebok India Company have launched a massive offensive against manufacturers of counterfeit sporting articles, apparels, printing stickers, cricket bats and socks bearing the Reebok brand name.This follows the Delhi High Court's order in the suit instituted by Reebok seeking an interim injunction against the manufacturers and traders of counterfeit Reebok products.
The court commissioners assisted by local police, raided the premises of these manufacturers and recovered stocks of hundreds of T-shirts, socks, cricket bats and printed stickers which were sold as genuine Reebok articles.
Reebok International counsel Hemant Singh in a press release said: "This is just the begining of a committed country-wide offensive that Reebok has decided to launch against these unscrupulous manufacturers who have so far been making profits counterfeiting Reebok goods.
He added that any person in possession of counterfeit Reebok products for the purpose of sale is liable to be prosecuted for committing offences which are punishable with a three year term of imprisionment and fine up to Rs 2 lakh.
