Mumbai, Jan 6: The Rs 86 crore Sonata Software is targeting a turnover of Rs 200 crore by 2000 and a growth of over 60 per cent for the next few years.Sonata Software president and managing director B Ramaswamy said the company's growth plans involve a software development centre to be set up at Bangalore's Keonics technology park and another facility close to its Bull Temple Road offshore development centre. "We will spend Rs 21 crore out of the Rs 23 crore issue procedings on these centres," he said.
For 1998-99, Sonata has targeted a turnover of Rs 128 crore and a profit of Rs 8.6 crore. Ramaswamy said manpower would be doubled from 800 people to around 1,500 in the next two years. He, however, ruled out another public or global issue for at least three years as "we have collected enough funds for our growth plans, on which we should now concentrate."
Sonata will open offices in Germany and Japan. The company's revenue from its international operations has been on the rise and will take up 50 percent of the turnover this year.
Sonata is focused in high growth segments like product development, ERP and consulting. It has tie-ups with Microsoft, Oracle, Lotus, Scala, IBM and Symantec.
