Mumbai, Jan 14: DHL Worldwide Express, the express division of Airfreight, will soon launch the E-track facility which would enable the consignees to get up-to-date information on their shipment. Until now, clients had to obtain the information through the DHL's Internet site or round the clock information service centres. With the launch of the new facility, clients only need to fill out the airway bill number (consignment number) through his e-mail account to obtain the latest status of his consignment in a few seconds, DHL marketing head Indranil Sen said. One can feed in multiple airway bill numbers at a time, however, if more that 30 such number are fed together, the response may take longer, he said.
The easy-to-use shipment tracking would provide greater access and control to international air express customers, he said. As customers do not need direct access to the internet, the service would largely benefit the corporates where more employees need access to information.
This will also help companies to disseminate information to their clients quickly. Besides, it will make the information flow more transparent and consumers can ascertain the cause of any delay.
The new facility is in addition to the company's automated shipment tracking services which includes web tracking and EasyShip, Sen said. The company, however, will also maintain its 24-hour information service centres in the metros, he added.
