Thailand aims for commodities futures market this year

Bangkok, Jan 29: Thailand hopes to set up its first commodities futures market this year after its establishment was delayed from last year by budget constraints, a senior commerce ministry official said on Thursday. Suchai Jaovisidha, director-general of the Internal Trade Department said parliamentary approval of draft laws to for the setting up of the market was expected within this year."If the parliament approves the draft for the futures market within the second half of the year, I expected that we will able to set it up and start operating by the end of this year," he told a seminar.
