P&G chips in with Pringles

Namrata Singh
Mumbai, Feb 25: Procter & Gamble Home Products, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Cincinnati-based multinational, is test launching `Pringles', the internationally renowned potato chip brand in the Capital.

Priced at Rs 80 for a 200 gm pack, the company has made an attempt to offer consumers a comparatively cheaper alternative to what exists in the grey market. The price of Pringles in the grey market ranges from Rs 95 to Rs 115. Pringles has been launched in two variants of Original and Sour Cream & Onion. Since this is a test launch, the company will not be kicking off an ad campaign for the same.

Pringles is currently being imported into the country. The company did not wish to comment on the plans to take the product to other metro towns. At the moment, there are no plans to manufacture Pringles in India.

Pringles and many more such products of the US multinational, which do not gel with the focus area of Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Healthcare, will come through the 100 per cent subsidiary.Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Healthcare's focus areas, as defined by the company, are: feminine hygiene care, hair care, healthcare and fabric wash.
