CMC pact with ITI for ERP implementationCMC Ltd on Wednesday signed an agreement with ITI Ltd to implement an ERP software at ITI's facility at Mankapur in Gonda district. As part of the software implementation programme, CMC will replace the old Nas Mainframe (IBM clone) machines at ITI with new hardware and a local area network systems. In addition, CMC will also put in place a Bann ERP package at the ITI facility.

Bill to amend cable laws to be introduced
The Government has decided to introducea Bill in Parliament to amend the existing the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995. According to a release, I&B minister MA Naqvi stated that the move has been initiated to ensure that all free-to-air channels conforms to the prescribed code under the Cable Law. The I&B ministry feels that private channels, especially uplinking from the country, should also conform to the programming code of Doordarshan.
Chase taps internet for online banking
Chase Manhattan, one of the largest US banks, on Wednesday said its customers could now pay bills and tap into their accounts over the internet, as part of an enhanced online banking service. The new service, which is free for all of Chase's banking customers, allows for internet access, and offers improved graphics and an easier navigation system than the proprietary online banking programme the bank launched in 1997, the bank said. Customers now can access deposit data over the internet.
Plexus launches Net Dynamics
PlexusTechnologies has launched its enterprise computing solution programme, `Net Dynamics' in association with Sun Microsystems in India. The initiative has been introduced to enable corporates adapt new standards of e-commerce, web-based ERP integration and internet electronic data interchange. The project aims at providing four key advantages to corporates, ease of integration of corporate back-end systems, increased productivity, improved scalability and easy manageability. Thomas Choong, director software sales, Sun Microsystems, pointed out that the biggest challenge faced today by the corporate world was combining existing applications and associated databases with new technology, quickly enough to support a rapidly changing business environment.
EDS appoints PriceWaterhouse co-chairman
Electronic Data Systems Corp on Wednesday said it named James Daley as its chief financial officer, filling a year-long management void at the world's No. 2 ranked supplier of computer services. Daley, 57, whorecently retired as co-chairman of PriceWaterhouse after a 35-year career at the accounting firm, is scheduled to join Plano, Texas-based EDS on March 8. He replaces Jody Grant who left the company in March 1998.
