Wipro to pick 45% in venture with Acer: Wipro Ltd will acquire Acer Computer International's 45 per cent financial equity in the Joint Venture company, Wipro Acer Ltd, as the two companies on Thursday announced reorientation of their partnership in the country. Top Wipro and Acer officials told a news conference here that Acer would open a full-fledged national subsidiary office. However, Wipro would continue to distribute and service Acer systems, they said.

BIFR winds up 4 firms: The Board for Industrial Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) has formed a prima facie opinion to wind up private sick companies -- Rahan Telecom Pvt Ltd, Sureka Coated Tubes and Sheets Ltd, Raipur Manufacturing Company Ltd and Anmol Diary Ltd. The board said the four companies have to be wound up as there are no viable schemes with means of finance fully tied up for their revival even after ample opportunities were given to the parties concerned.

Johnson Tiles' turnover crosses Rs 200 cr: Johnson Tiles hasbecome the first ceramic tile company in the country to cross an annual sales turnover of Rs 200 crore. The sales turnover of Johnson tiles was Rs 213 crore as against Rs 170 crore in the previous fiscal, it said in a release here. The turnover grew by 25 per cent against an industry growth of just 4 to 5 per cent last year, according to the company.

Samsung unveils new products: Samsung India Electronics Ltd managing director KS Kim has announced the launch of its high-tech advanced product line-up for 1999, both in consumer electronics as well as home appliance products. Kim told mediapersons, the Tantus and the Hitron series in televisions to supplement the existing Vision Plus and Super Horn series. Samsung has commenced manufacturing microwave ovens at its Noida, near Delhi from March '99 onwards.
