...While Gilbey's unfurls World Cup banner

OUR M&M BUREAU
NEW DELHI, April 8: In a bid to promote its brand on the back of World Cup excitement, Gilbey's Green Label today kicked off a country-wide signature campaign. Called `Sign Lagao --India Jitao', the initiative has Gilbey's putting together a 10.45 kilometer banner filled with signatures and best wishes for the Indian team.

In the Capital, 64 banners will be put up at different venues between April 8 and April 14. The campaign will then cover 72 cities including Mumbai, Calcutta, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Nagpur, Mangalore, Goa, Indore, Raipur, Mysore, Cochin, Trivandrum, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Bhuvaneshwar, Patna, Chandigarh, Jalandhar and Jaipur.

On April 22,' the Sign Lagao -- India Jitao' banner -- scribbled over with good wishes for a World Cup win -- will be presented to the Indian cricket team just before it leaves for the World Cup.

Says Sunil Lulla, vice-president marketing, United Distillers & Vintners: ``A mega and global event such as the World Cup deserves a mega wish that isstraight from the heart.''

While the banner is already being positioned as the world's biggest banner, Gilbey's reckons the campaign could even become the world's biggest signature campaign. To attract more participants, Gilbey's is also launching a series of on-premise promotions.

Under the scheme, all signatories to the banner can participate in a slogan contest. The best five entries will be selected as Gilbey's Green Label ambassadors. They will each receive one free ticket for the World Cup and ``convey the good wishes of their fellow countrymen to the national team''.
