All the steel companies have shown higher sales in March compared to February. But this does not reflect a revival of demand for steel, nor will it make any great improvement in the profitability of steel companies.

Eastern Railway, which carries the largest number of suburban passengers in the country, increased its passenger traffic revenue in 1998-99 by 12 per cent to Rs 808.90 crore, chief commercial manager RN Bhattacharyya said at a press conference here on Monday.
