For astrologers, the defeat of the motion of confidence against Vajapayee government have only gone to help reinforce their faith in the subject. The day was a Saturday, ruled by Planet Saturn. Saturn stands for delays, behind the scene manipulation, going back on promises and cheating. With the unfolding of the political drama, on Wednesday night I was wondering what the planets indicated for the government. Sun having entered Aries his sign of strength showed that the government's power is supreme. For a moment, I thought the BJP is unshakeable. But, astrology calls for very fine interpretation. Then I felt what sun indicated was the government's authority will remain strong, but that did not necessarily mean BJP. It meant only the authority and the astrologer has to use his skill to interpret.
Next day, it was a lesson for me when I heard that the President had acted! So he was the authority. And the right interpretation would be that the authority will act; and he acted proactively. This is of greatastrological significance.
As the developments unfolded on Thursday, and BJP wanted the voting on Thursday itself, I said this is good. But when the vote of confidence got scheduled for Saturday, I lamented that BJP has not helped itself by letting the election on Saturday. You might ask why did I not write about it earlier?Good question. The answer is quite simple. Astrology is quite a complex subject. It is difficult for non-astrologers to understand the complexities.
They presume it to be a simple system and end up passing quick judgements. For me and perhaps for several other astrologers, this development on the political scene was a matter of study, as is any testing of hypothesis for a scientist. You make your projections and watch the developments. At the end of it you know what principles of astrology worked. And if some did not work that becomes a subject matter of either further research or of refining one's own predicting ability. It is very similar to rocket science.
You launch a rocketbased on your knowledge upto the point and calculations based on that. If the rocket did not achieve the target, you do not end up saying the entire science is wrong. It is rather a case of you not having understood a particular principle or more likely your calculations on the combined output had erred somewhere.
In astrology it is even more that way. Astrologers work with thousands of permutations and combinations and interpretations. Now back to Saturday. I had privately told a few that it would be better to book your profit on stocks before the vote was taken. I did not wish to go public with this recommendation, because, if nothing untoward happened, there would be score of rationalists wishing to jump on me. Let them jump on me. I do not mind that. But I would not want to do anything to besmirch the image of that noble science Astrology.
The effect of the Saturn was seen on Saturday in two respects. First, the delay on whether a minister in Orissa can vote. A delay had to take place. Number two,Saturday is when people go back on promises. We do know some politicians from BSP and National Conference went back on their promise. In any case, BJP could have avoided Saturday for voting. And now I muse, what would have Speaker done if he was an avid follower of astrology. Perhaps, he would have taken advantage of the Saturnian influence and postponed the voting to next week.
At the end of it all, you may ask, can anything destined be changed. The answer to that not simple. BJP may be undergoing spells of bad period. During that phase it is possible to ride over a patch by chosing your events carefully. Ultimately, Saturday's happening is one more event that would go to show that planets do influence human events. And men would stand to gain by playing tango with astrology rather than dismiss it off-handedly.
