Spare a rib and spoil the meal

Vidya Deshpande
For those non-vegetarian eaters, who like to chew into their bones, the Ribs and Things promotion at Park Royal Hotel in Nehru Place, lets you do just that.

From lamb chops to pork ribs, salmon steaks and chicken wings, it is all there at the special selection at Blooms Coffee shop buffet for lunch and dinner through April. All the meat is placed on a iced counter and after the selection is made, the meat is cooked rare or medium or the way you want it. The menu is accompanied with a choice of sauce from green pepper sauce, red wine, morrel and mushroom sauce, baronise and tangy tomato coulis with garlic flavour sauce.

The meal is a really meaty pig out with just paneer shaslik and cottage cheese steaks for the vegetarians to eat. Of course, complimentary Caesar's salad and potato salads are thrown in, but that doesn't compensate for the veggies.

The Pork Ribs Asian Style is particularly tasty with a rich honey and ginger flavouring and the Darne of Salmon Steak is a quixotic combination of coriander, garlic and white wine marinade, cooked in a tandoor. Kashmiri tabakmazz and tandoori pomfret add to Indian taste to the menu. The rest is typical continental delicacies like lamb chops with mild spices like rosemary, thyme and a hint of mustard.

But a note of caution. Not all the dishes are priced the same. Some of them are marked under the premium range like the jumbo prawns and salmon, while the others are in regular range. The catch is the pricing, the premium buffet costs Rs 575 per head plus taxes and the regular buffet is Rs 475 plus taxes.
