Hyundai Motors India has launched its debut product the Santro car in its motherland Korea priced at around $4,500.This is the first time an international product was first launched in the country and then taken across to be launched in Korea, managing director of Hyundai Motors India YS Kim said in a statement here. The car was launched on April 15 and Hyundai Motors India had begun exporting Santro body panels, engines and transmissions to Hyundai Motors Company of Korea from March this year.
The Indian subsidiary of Hyundai Motors is expected to earn $10 million as foregin exchange in the very first year of its exports, the statement said.
Santro, launched in Korea is available in two variants -- Visto ESS and the Visto QUE, it added.
Visto is being manufactured by Hyundai Motor Company, Korea at its Ulsan plant with the body panels and engine parts imported from its wholly-owned Indian subsidary, Hyundia Motor India.
