Roofit net rises 42% to Rs 4.14 crore

Roofit Industries announced a 42 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 4.14 crore for the third quarter ended March 31, 1999, after accounting for higher interest charges and depreciation. The turnover of the company rose to Rs 36.63 crore, an increase of 43 per cent over the third quarter period of the previous year. At the meeting held on Wednesday, the board approved an interim divedend of Rs 2 per share for 1998-99. Roofit has already taken steps to meet Y2K requirements.

Shalimar Paints posts Rs 42 lakh net

Shalimar Paints Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 0.42 crore in the third quarter ended March 31, 1999. Official sources said net sales during the quarter amounted to Rs 32.96 crore while other income stood at Rs 0.14 crore. Gross profit stood at Rs 0.83 crore after total expenditure of Rs 30.43 crore and interest payment of Rs 1.34 crore, sources added. Provision on account of depreciation and taxation stood at Rs 0.36 crore and Rs 0.05 crorerespectively.

VDL gross sales up 42%

Vashisti Detergents Ltd (VDL) has reported a net profit of Rs 5 crore for the financial year ended March 1999, compared to Rs 1.82 crore in the previous year. Gross sales increased 42 per cent to Rs 221.59 crore from Rs 155.83 crore last year. A company press release said the improved results have been achieved through a 38 per cent increase in capacity utilisation, higher operating margins and sustained focus on productivity.

Peerless Shipping net profit up

The Peerless Shipping and Oilfiled Services Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 3.53 crore during the quarter ended March 31, 1999 compared to a net loss of Rs 3.98 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal. Official sources, after a board meeting on Wednesday, said net sales during the quarter increased to Rs 26.08 crore against Rs 25.94 crore last year while other income stood at Rs 0.14 crore against a negative figure of Rs 0.35 crore last year.

HCC posts Rs 5.15 cr net

HindustanConstruction Company Ltd (HCC) has reported a net profit of Rs 5.15 crore during the nine month period ended March 31, 1999 against a net loss of Rs 2.05 crore in the corresponding period the previous year. Company's net income jumped sharply to Rs 388.83 crore from Rs 190.73 crore last year while other income came down to Rs 1.43 crore.

Kinetic bags export award

Kinetic Engineering Ltd, the Pune-based two wheeler manufacturer, has for the seventh consecutive time bagged the export excellence award with exports of scooters cumulatively exceeding the 50,000 mark. The award is for excellence in export of two wheelers and three wheelers, awarded by Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) of the commerce ministry, a company release said on Wednesday.

Levi's to unveil `Dockers'

Levi Strauss and Company is considering introduction of its world renowned `Dockers' brand of casualwear in the country aimed at broad-basing its product portfolio. "We are seriously thinking of `Dockers' range forIndia as an option while expanding our product range," country manager CS Suryanarayanan said.
