TTK Prestige net profit surges 83% to Rs 9.23 crore

Bangalore, Apr 28: TTK Prestige Ltd has posted an impressive 83 per cent rise in its net profit to report Rs 9.23 crore for the fiscal ended March 31, 1999 against Rs 5.08 crore achieved during the corresponding period of previous fiscal.

Registering a 30 per cent surge, the sales of the company have touched Rs 144.86 crore from previous fiscal's figure of Rs 111.43 crore.

TTK Prestige has also shown its performance in exports by posting a revenue of Rs 26 crore (Rs 16 crore) during the period.

Other income of the company during the period stands at Rs 2.39 crore (Rs 4.92 crore), while total expenditure was Rs 129.04 crore against Rs 105.31 crore for the fiscal 1997-98.

The company's provision for taxation was at Rs 2.10 crore (Rs 85 lakh) during the period.

During the current fiscal the major thrust would be on export market with the launch of new products. "Apart from tapping new clients and new markets in the export sector, the company has plans to unveil an array of new pressure cookers,non-stick cookware and other new products in the domestic market," a TTK Prestige official said.

TTK's efforts in the export market during 1998-99 have paid off and the company is poised to enhance the retail chain by more than 40 per cent in the United States market. TTK Prestige, which had set up its wholly-owned subsidiary in the United States, would also exploring east European markets during the current fiscal.

The results were taken on record by the board of directors at its meeting held here on April 28. The company is also in the process of installing Y2K compliant software and hardware.

The whole process is likely to be ready by September 1999 and is estimated to cost the company about Rs 25 lakh.
