BJP steps up pressure for early elections
Agencies
New Delhi, April 28: The BJP is keeping up pressure on the Election Commission to hold the mid-term poll as early as possible. Anxious that the elections should be held before the sympathy wave, which it feels has been generated for the party by the premature downfall of the Vajpayee Government and failure of the opposition to form government, subsidises, the party leaders reiterated the demand at various fora on Wednesday. Information and Broadcasting Minister Pramod Mahajan said that so far no general election had been held between July and November due to monsoons.Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
