Mumbai, May 10: Groundnut oil reacted further on the oil,oilseeds market here today. Castorseed and its oil remained unchanged while beginning of trading in the international future of castor oil marked the major events on the oil,oilseeds market here today.Groundnut oil fell by Rs 3 to Rs 385 per 10 kg owing to lack of consumer demand and steady summer crop arrivals. In Rajkot prices quoted lower at Rs 600 per 15 kg.
Imported palm oil maintained at the reduced level of Rs 277 per 10 kg on eased offerings by importers. But in the global market palm oil quoted lower at $505 per tonne for ready delivery and to $475/495 per tonne for long delivery, it was gathered.
Castor oil finished steady at Rs 354/368 per 10 kg for ready delivery while in the international contract castor oil August delivery placed at Rs 365 and October delivery at Rs 371 per 10 kg. Castorseed ready held at Rs 1597/1603 per quintal on nominal trading.
In the futures section castorseed June delivery ruled static at Rs 1,614 perquintal and newly opened September delivery was not traded today on the first day of trading, according to floor sources. In Ahmedabad June delivery settled lower at Rs 1,551.50 per quintal and in Gujarat castorseed ready delivery ruled quiet at Rs 306 per 20 kg, castor oil at Rs 336 per 10 kg. Arrivals of castorseed in the Gujarat region was placed at 15000/20000 bags today.
Bullion declines
Gold prices continue to rule easy while silver lost gained grounds on the bullion market here today.
Standard gold eased by Rs 30 to Rs 4,370 per 10 gm. Gold .22 carat was down by same margin at Rs 4,040 per 10 gm. Prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) fell by Rs 300 to Rs 51,300 per piece. Gold biscuit prices have dropped by nearly Rs 1000 per piece in last three trading days. Seasonal buyers were kept sidelined in the falling market while continued bearish trend in the global market and slide in the dollar value against rupee prompted renewed offerings by stockists and local bankers, it was learnt. In theoverseas market gold was down from $283 to $280.80 and finally closed at $281.50 per an ounce.
Silver .999 softened by Rs 40 to Rs 8,210 per kg. In the ready section silver .916 was down by Rs 25 to Rs 8,075 per kg in sympathy. Industrial and speculative interest for silver was at a low ebb as renewed overseas supplies and weak Delhi and global advices put pressure on the local market. In the global market silver prices placed lower from $5.43/5.44 to $5.36/5.37 per ounce.
Grains steady
A quietly steady condition continued on the grains market. Activity was restricted.
Wheat milling deshi and imported continued to be transacted at Rs 660-665 and at Rs 625 a quintal respectively. MP 147 were in demand at Rs 750-850 and Sarbati in the range of Rs 900-1400. North Gujarat Sonaklyan ruled at Rs 700-725 and 496 at Rs 750-850.
Rice SLO were placed at Rs 1100-1400. Perimal Punjab ruled at Rs 900-1100 and superior at Rs 1200-1500. AP kattar rice were on offer at Rs 1100-1150 while superior Perimalfetched Rs 1200-1500. Gujarat-17 ruled at Rs 1800-2100. AP cultured kolams were in demand at Rs 2000-2400.
Among pulses, green peas USA Rumba/Heart ruled at Rs 1300 while Canadian were placed at Rs 831-935. White peas Canadian were transacted at Rs 975.
Sugar subdued
A subdued condition was noticed on the sugar market following slack demand.
The price eased by Rs 3 to 5 a quintal. M-30 were placed at Rs 1490-1545 and S-30 at Rs 1462-1500 ex-godown. Ex-octroi checkpost, M-30 found sellers at Rs 1468-1475 and S-30 at Rs 1450-1465.
In tenders, the price eased by Rs 5 as M-30 were indicated at Rs 1415-1420 and S-30 at Rs 1400-1410 in Kolhapur line.
Brazilian white and biscuit colour sugar continued to be static at Rs 1360 and at Rs 1245 plus sales tax respectively.
Gujarat cottons gain
A fresh firmness in short and medium strains of Gujarat provided main feature of trading on the cotton market.
Sustained buying support pushed up the price of V-797 and related items by Rs 300 acandy afresh. V-797 Kadi were quoted at Rs 12,000, Viramgam at Rs 12,300 and Dhandhuka at Rs 12,500 spot. Wagad were placed at Rs 11,500-11,600 and Kalan-ginned at Rs 11,100-11,200. Sanker average were on offer at Rs 14,000-15,000 and medium at Rs 17,500-19,000. Superior Sanker fetched Rs 19,500-21,000.
Bengal deshi at Rs 1280-1425, J-34 saw-ginned good average at Rs 1620-1760 and cart selected at Rs 1710-1965 as also J-34 roller-ginned good average Rajasthan at Rs 1600-1630 a maund were steady.
In futures, June price improved by 12 points at 4903 and that of September by 18 points at Rs 4919 on stray support.
Yarn quiet
A quietly steady condition continued on the yarn market on slack activity.
Polyester yarn grey first quality of medium-sized units 80dn roto were placed at Rs 83-84, micro roto at Rs 88-90, weft at Rs 77 and warp at Rs 85 a kg were unchanged. 80/1000dn and 80/1400dn were mentioned at Rs 120-125 and at Rs 125-130 respectively.
In the case of 150dn, weft were placed at Rs64-65, warp at Rs 74-75, single roto at Rs 65-66 and double roto at Rs 66-67.
