Haryana agencies buy 37.6 lakh tonnes of wheat

Chandigarh, May 10: Procuring agencies in Haryana purchased 37.64 lakh tonnes of wheat out of a total arrival of 37.88 lakh tonnes till May 8. Haryana food and supplies minister Ganeshi Lal said here today that last year's arrival till this date was 25.63 lakh tonnes. The six procuring agencies procured 31.57 lakh tonnes wheat in the entire procurement season last year, he added.The minister said that the Food and Supplies Department procured 8.21 lakh tonnes, Hafed 13.71 lakh tonnes, Food Corporation of India (FCI) 6.13 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation 2.81 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 3.84 lakh tonnes and Confed 2.94 lakh tonnes, while traders purchased only 24,000 tonnes.
