Essar Cellphone, Nokia launch Cell-Surf

PTI
Essar Cellphone and Nokia Telecom on Monday launched Cell-Surf, a web-based smart messaging service based on direct internet access service technology for its subscribers. Essar Cellphone subscribers will have the option to access a whole range of information and infotainment services which include cricket scores, weather reports, flight schedules, stock news, currency rates and tele-banking, chief marketing officer of Essar, Atanu Mandal, told reporters.

The idea of smart messaging is to combine internet access with wireless telephony in a seamless manner, Nokia official Sanjay Bhasin said.

The service is available at Rs 99 per month rent and Rs 3 per message for the subscribers in the post-paid scheme, while for subscribers using speed card (a pre-paid card) the monthly rent is Rs 150.
