The pro-Pawar group has expelled nine MLAs and six MLCs from the Congress Legislature Party while in a counter move, the MPCC has expelled 21 MLAs and 9 MLCs from the party .
Leaders of the Opposition in the state assembly and council respectively, Madhukar Pichad and Chhagan Bhujbal, told reporters that the ranks of Pawar supporters were expected to swell by June 3 when the next meeting of their legislature party was scheduled. "If needed, we will parade the legislators before the presiding officers of both the houses to prove ourmajority," Pichad said.
All-India Congress Committee general secretary Gulam Nabi Azad who was an observer at the MPCC meeting said that on a request by five MLAs and five MLCs, who sent telegrams and telephonic messages, the Congress Legislature Party has decided to defer elections of Opposition leaders in both the houses of state legislature by a few days.
