SN Malik, two others on MTNL boardFormer MMTC chairman SN Malik and two others have been inducted as non-official directors in MTNL as part of broadbasing its board to give it greater financial and administrative autonomy under the navratna package. The other two new non-official directors who have been nominated by the government to the telecom utility's board are former deputy governor of RBI RV Gupta and retired civil servant MP Khosla, official sources said.
Netlinker launched
PowerTel Boca Ltd has launched its `ISDN router - Netlinker' aimed at the corporate and internet market. The new product helps companies connecting their corporate LANs through ISDN or to the internet. It comes equipped with an IP router at 7 port ethernet hub and a BRI ISDN interface. A company communique said that PowerTel Boca has strong presence in the ISDN market with customers like Sony, Centurion Bank, GE and Coke.
Wipro Infotech, EMS seminars
Wipro Infotech Systems and Services in associationwith EMC Corporation of the US is holding a series of seminars in the country to focus on the worldwide trend of using enterprise storage to manage information effectively. The roadshows in Bangalore (June 8), Mumbai (June 10) and New Delhi (June 11) are aimed at helping information systems managers share, consolidate, protect and leverage corporate information residing at various locations within the organisation.
SoftPlus appointment
SoftPlus Inc, a provider of e-commerce and customer relationship management solutions, has appointed Vijay Uttarwar as managing director of its Indian operations. Prior to this appointment, Uttarwar was vice president (finance and operations) at Softplus Inc. He will be responsible for the company's software development centre in Mumbai.
Computers For You
Intel India in association with the National Science Centre has launched its mobile computer awareness programme `Computers For You' for the rural. Under the programme, a van equipped with multimediacomputers, software and a trainer would cover around 60 villages in the next 12 months, reaching out to over 4,000 children per village. Intel's education initiative in the country is aimed at creating awareness about the benefits of multimedia computers and the internet as a learning tool.
