PFC to focus on equity participation

Providing equity participation in power projects would be one of the areas of future business development identified by the Power Finance Corporation (PFC), according to its chairman and managing director, Uddesh Kohli.``However, no proposals have come so far and we would be cautious in this regard,' Kohli told presspersons.

Nayanar inaugurates 165 mw combined cycle project

The Rs 458-crore, 165 mw combined cycle power station, one of Kerala's latest non-hydel power projects, was commissioned at Udyogamandal by state chief minister E K Nayanar. The project, implemented by BSES Kerala Ltd, is the first of a series of such small and medium non-hydel projects planned in as many as 13 locations Rlys to construct Ludhiana-Chandigarh line.

The Railways have decided to take up construction work of Ludhiana-Chandigarh new rail line which would bring Mohali, Samrala and Kharar on the national broad gauge network. Estimated to cost Rs 248 crore, it wouldreduce the distance between Ludhiana and Chandigarh by 46 km and would eliminate the reversal at Ambala saving the travelling time by over an hour.

New broad gauge rail line from Kalka to Parwanoo

Railway minister Nitish Kumar will lay the foundation stone for the new broad guage (BG) line from Kalka to Parwanoo in Himachal Pradesh on Monday. The new line, an extension of the Ambala-Kalka line would bring industrial town of Parwanoo in the mountain state on the rail network.
