Ostensibly the agenda of the home minister was to welcome the Union finance minister as a "representative of Gujarat" and seek the Centre's assistance in making Vision 2010 a success in every way so that "Gujarat emerges not as one of the most prosperous states of the country but as the most prosperous state." Not to be outdone by his politicalcomrade-in-arms, finance minister Yashwant Sinha said it was indeed a rare honour to be accorded a welcome by none less than the home minister himself.
