Freight rates may dip

MUMBAI, JUNE 27: Freight rates for nine-tonne load vehicles from Mumbai to remaining parts of the country may dip marginally in the coming week, according to transporters.

In the last week, the rates to most of the states remained same except to a few places to which the truck rates moved in a narrow range. Due to the ongoing tension at Line of Control in Kashmir, the rates to most of the northern states remained steady. The rates to Jammu and Srinagar were Rs 27,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively. The rates to Shimla too remained at Rs 18,000. The truck rates to Delhi were at Rs 13,000, however, there was a marginal fall in freight rates to some places in Haryana and Punjab. The rates to Hazari Bagh and Patna dipped by Rs 200 each to Rs 17,600 and 18,300, respectively. The rates to Lucknow were at Rs 13,800. Rates to Meerut and Agra also maintained its previous Rs 500 fall and remained at Rs 13,000. The truck rates from Mumbai to western region was static. The Mumbai Surat rates were at Rs 3,000. Rates toIndore in Madhya Pradesh came down by Rs 200 to Rs 5,000. The freight rates to Jaipur rates were at Rs 9,500. The Mumbai to Ajmer rates remained at Rs 8,800. In the eastern sector too there was no major change in rates. The Mumbai to Assam truck rates remained at Rs 32,000 while those to Jorhat were Rs 41,500. The truck rates to Siliguri (in West Bengal) decreased by Rs 200 to Rs 21,800 while rates to Calcutta were steady at Rs 18,000. The Mumbai to Cuttack and Bhubaneshwar also did not report any change and were at Rs 16,000 and Rs 15,000, respectively. In south, the rates to Vizag dipped marginally by Rs 100 to Rs 12,700. The rates to Karnataka were steady. The Mumbai to Bangalore truck were at Rs 8,800. The rates to Chennai were at Rs 13,000. The freight rates to Trichur too remained at Rs 14,600 while rates to Cochin were at Rs 13,800.
