Acetate yarn made from natural cellulose from re-forested trees is user-friendly because of the ability to take deep and lustorous colors and the fine fabrics that are smooth and sleek, crisp and cool with fluid drape. According to a statement by Ellen Sweeney, manager of global public affairs and advertising fabrics of celanese acetate are produced for both woven and knits. Woven fabrics include apparel fabrics and soft home furnishings in weaves such as crepes, taffetas, satins, sheers, gabardines, velvets and laces.

Tara Myers, international market development manager, Celanese Acetate Textiles, said knit fabrics are produced in knit stitches such as ribs, interlocks, single and double jerseys, jacquardsand velours. They will be availble with 100 per cent acetate yarn as well as blends with viscose rayon, wool, polyester, cotton, nylon, silk,linen and spandex. Celanese has now arranged for availability of its yarn locally in India in deniers between 75 and 300 in natural and black, bright and dull.

In India, commercial production of fabrics made from celanese acetate yarn has been undertaken for wovens, produced by manufacturers in Surat and Banglore and at Tirupur and Ludhiana for knits. Celanese Acetate Textiles is the world's largest acetate producer. Its products, Celanese acetate yarn and MicroSafe antimicrobial fibre are found in men's and women's apparel fashions, linings, home furnishings and industrial end uses.
