AIIMS employees donate a day's salaryDoctors and employees of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday donated one day's salary to the army central welfare fund. A cheque for Rs 20,91,612 was presented to defence minister George Fernandes by AIIMS director PK Dave a release said. Dave also offered to send a team of doctors to forward areas for the treatment of injured army personnel, it added.
Haryana attorneys' contribution
Employees of the prosecution department of Haryana, including district attorneys, will donate a day's salary towards the chief minister's relief fund to help the families of army personnel who laid down their lives in Kargil sector, Haryana State Attorneys Association said. Employees of Technical Teachers Training Institute (TTTI) here also resolved to donate a day's salary to the national defence fund.
Apollo Hospital staff donation
Employees and doctors of Apollo Hospitals at New Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad have donated a day's salarytowards the welfare of the soldiers participating in "Operation Vijay" against the Pakistani intruders in Kargil. The amount has been remitted to the chairman, joint chiefs of staff committee, a statement issued by chief executive officer of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Brig CB Shukla, VSM, said.
ITI staff contribution
The employees unions and officers associations of ITI Ltd have decided to contribute one day's gross salary to the families of defence personnel who lost their lives in the KargiL operation. The collected sum will be sent to the defence service personnel welfare fund, said a release.
Kazhagam donates Rs 1 lakh
Dravidar Kazhagam has contributed Rs 1 lakh towards the Kargil relief fund for helping the soldiers fighting in this sector and for other relief works. In a statement in Chennai, Kazhagam general secretary K Veeramani said a draft for the amount had been despatched to the defence minister.
Ranbaxy chief bags Chemtech-CEW award
Ranbaxy Laboratorieschairman, Dr Parvinder Singh, has been conferred the Chemtech-CEW "Achiever of the year" award. The Chemtech-CEW awards have been instituted by the Chemtech Foundation and the CEW (Chemical Engineering World). Ranbaxy Lab's research director Dr JM Khanna received the award in Dr Singh's absence from the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, Dr R Chidambaram.
Haria Exports doubles dividend
Haria Exports has posted a net profit of Rs 2.57 crore after tax and depreciation this fiscal as compared to Rs 23.17 lakh last year. The gross profit increased to Rs Rs 3.26 crore (Rs 3.04 crore). Established in 1970, the company went public in September 1994.
6 firms merged in Suman Motels
Suman Motels has announced the amalgamation of six of its companies. These companies are Suman Resorts, Highway Users Centers and Tej Gaurav Farms among others. The equity capital of Suman Motels will be enhanced to Rs 28.76 crore from Rs 12.50 crore after the merger.
Delphi appoints MD
DelphiAutomotive Systems (DAS) has appointed Anil Verma as managing director of its operations in India. Verma will be focussing on developing future growth strategies for Delphi India and further integrating India operations with the global organisation. He succeeds Anil Srivastava, who has moved to Carrier Aircon. Prior to his appointment as managing director, Verma was the country manager for Delphi Energy and Engine Management Systems facility in Gurgaon.
