London, July 27: British Telecommunications giant BT secured control on Tuesday of Britain's second largest mobile phone operator Cellnet, buying out the 40 per cent stake in the company it did not already own for 3.15 billion pounds ($5 billion).BT bought the shareholding from partner Securicor in an effort to better position itself in the increasingly competitive British mobile telephone market.
The company said it was now confident of winning one of five new-generation mobile licences up for grabs early next year.
