Mumbai, Aug 23: Core Healthcare has set up a US $ 5 million facility for the Government of Myanmar to manufacture IV fluids and pharmaceuticals. The plant, located near Yangon (Rangoon), is Core Healthcare's first international project to be fully commissioned and certified. The company has also bagged a project order to set up an IV fluids manufacturing plant in Malaysia.
Core Healthcare chairman and managing director, Sushil Handa said, "The Yangon pharmaceutical factory is one of the most modern healthcare facilities which will provide the highest quality IV fluids and pharma products to the people of Myanmar".
Over the last decade, as part of Core's growth strategy, the company has expanded beyond Indian shores and exports over 45 per cent of total production to about 60 countries across the globe. "Our expertise in setting up world class manufacturing facilities in India combined with our global presence, has resulted in the company winning prestigious assignments for setting up IV fluid productionfacilities for other countries," Handa added.
He said that the company was following a two pronged growth strategy to expand its presence in the international market. "We will be executing projects on a turnkey basis, such as the Myanmar facility. In order to bring our products closer to our markets, we will be entering into joint ventures with local partners creating world class manufacturing facilities and sales infrastructure across the globe".
Core has already established a joint venture in Uzbekistan, with Uzpharmprom, a local government organisation, for manufacturing IV fluids and tablets. This is significant given that it will help the company expand its market across the entire CIS region which has a total population of 80 million people, a press release added.
