VSNL, Singtel launch private leased circuits

Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) and Singapore Telecom (SingTel) on Wednesday jointly launched international private leased circuits (IPLC) between India and Singapore for easier connectiity to transmit data. VSNL and SingTel will use highly-advanced network management tool to offer customers the new service that will enable both the companies to view the international leased circuits status end-to-end, a VSNL release said. The new state-of-the-art facility will enable fault detection, location and rectification in a pro-active manner. The initiative was launched with the signing of an agreement between VSNL chairman and managing director Amitabh Kumar and managing director of global business of SingTel, Victon Kwok, in Mumbai.

HP, Tata Infotech implement SMILE

Information technology majors Tata Infotech and Hewlett-Packard India have implemented customer relationship management (CRM) solution, the latest in corporate management, forstrengthening their customer relationships to enable superior-class service. The companies opted for the upgraded SMILE version of the CRM solution offered by Global Groupware to automate customer service process, specifically to log and track calls, a company statement said in New Delhi on Wednesday. HP India has implemented CRM in their Delhi centre while Tata Infotech has opted for the package for its centres in Delhi and Mumbai.

Recyclable notebook from Siemens

Siemens Nixdorf India has announced the launch of its completely recyclable Mobile 800 notebook that is claimed to offer high security features, fast graphics and ergonomic usage. Priced at Rs 2.6 lakh, the notebook runs on the Intel Pentium II processor and a high-capacity hard disk. The Mobile 800 boasts a magnesium case that is light as well as sturdy and provides excellent thermal conductivity, a release said.

Microsoft restores Hotmail service

Microsoft said it had restored its free e-mail service, Hotmail, after a shut-down following a security break that allowed unauthorised access to Hotmail servers. "We can tell you that the issue has been resolved and MSN Hotmail is currently operating normally," the company said in a statement posted on its website on Tuesday.

TAFI website launched

Amadeus India, a leading computerised reservationsystem, has announced the launch of the official website of TAFI (Travel Agents Federation of India) on Monday. The website, www.tafi.org, offers information on the federation, its functions and members along with their contact numbers and addresses. The site will serve as a forum for close interaction between Indian travel agents and TAFI as well as promote the cause of the travel trade in the country, said a press release.
