New Delhi, Sept 1: Compaq India has cornered 7.7 per cent marketshare in the Indian desktop PC and server market to occupy the top slot, closely followed by HCL Ltd with 7.5 per cent for the first half of 1998-99, according to the latest International Data Corporation report.Zenith has occupied the third slot with 6.9 per cent share, while IBM and Hewlett-Packard are the fourth and fifth rankers respectively with 4.4 per cent market share each, the report has revealed.
Compaq shipped 38,556 units, while HCL sold 37,583 units and Zenith 34,556 units. IBM shipped 21,776 units and HP sold 21,724 during the period under review.
In terms of value also, Compaq leads with total value of shipments at $84 million, or 14.8 per cent marketshare. IBM has been ranked second with 8.3 per cent marketshare, or shipments worth $47.2 million, according to the report.
