Sebi bars negotiated and cross deals
The Securities & Exchange Board of India has banned negotiated deals and cross deals with effect from the next settlement. The market regulator has stated that all negotiated deals will be permitted as normal deals executed on the screens of stock exchanges.

Bank stocks rally despite poor Q1 performance
Notwithstanding a poor show for the first quarter of fiscal 2000, the recent rally on the bourses has percolated to banking stocks.

Jump in hotel stocks not supported by fundamentals
The recent rally in the hotel stocks has to be taken with a pinch of salt. There has hardly been any fundamental change in the fortunes of the hotel industry and the second quarter performance is unlikely to spring any major surprises.
