Delhi, Sept 21: In mixed market conditions, kabligram and rajmash chitra, at the Delhi grains and pulses market showed a soaring tendency on Tuesday.Import of kabligram from Iran and Turkey turned unprofitable coupled with paucity of ready stock, kabligram Indian and Maxico shot up by Rs 100-200 at Rs 2300-3600 a quintal. Similarly, new rajmash chitra recorded a sharp spurt of Rs 250 at Rs 2150 a quintal on holding of stock by the Maharashtra stockists.Arhar went down by Rs 40-50 at Rs 2050-2410 a quintal in the expectation of selling pressure from Mumbai after election.
Among coarse grains, maize dipped by Rs 20-30 at Rs 600-630 a quintal on increased arrivals from Uttar Pradesh.
Mustard laha slips
On selling pressure from importers coupled with recovery in output in kharif oilseeds, major mill delivery oils, in edible section, tumbled down by Rs 50-60 a quintal.
Palmolein in Mumbai moved down by Rs 40 at Rs 2250 a quintal while coconut oil Parivar brand looked up by Rs 15 at Rs 990 a tinon firm Cochin advices.Mustard laha slipped by Rs 25 a quintal due to weak demand from millers.
Soya de-oiled cakes drifted lower by Rs 300 at Rs 8200 a tonne and groundnut DOC slumped by Rs 300 a tonne due to weak demand from exporters.
Mumbai: Prices declined on the oilseeds market here on Tuesday due to poor demand in the face of good supply.
In edibles, imported palm oil fell further by Rs 3 to end at Rs 227 from the previous close of Rs 230 due to weak overseas advices. However, groundnut oil remained steady at Rs 415 on scattered dealings.
In the non-edible section, castor oil commercial turned weak by Rs 4 to close at Rs 448 from the previous close of Rs 452 on fresh arrival. In the futures market, castorseed December contract opened weak at Rs 2028, but recovered on some low-level buying and touched an intra-day high of Rs 2050, before closing at Rs 2046, showing a moderate fall of Rs 3 over the previous close of Rs 2049. On the other hand, in the castor oil international contract,prices of both December and February deliveries hardened to Rs 415 and Rs 418, respectively from the previous close of Rs 409 and Rs 411.
Sugar sluggish
Business in mill delivery sugar remained sluggish on Tuesday due to weak demand as traders were awaiting next free-sale sugar quota.
Mawana sugar was traded at Rs 1540, Dauralla at Rs 1435-1445, tax-paid Sehora and Khatauli at Rs 1468 and Rs 1525 a quintal, respectively.
Zeera tumbles
Zeera at the local market, tumbled down by Rs 100-150 a quintal on weak Unjha advices. Area under zeera is expected higher in view of favourable rains.
Among dry fruits, abjosh fell sharply by Rs 300 at Rs 8700-9500 per 40 kg on sale of abjosh by Pak travellers.
Silver edges up
Steady-to-firm conditions were seen at the local bullion market on Tuesday.Gold in London held steady at $255.25, consequently gold biscuit and standard mint gold held steady at Rs 4020 and Rs 4030 per 10 gram, respectively.
Gold sovereign held steady at Rs3600-3625 per 8 gram.
Spot silver .999 fineness edged up by Rs 10 at Rs 7820 a kg as there was no arrival of imported silver on Monday. Silver weekly delivery remained unchanged at Rs 7820 a kg. Silver coins on demand from Calcutta buyers, flared by Rs 100 at Rs 10,800-10,900 per 100 pieces.
Mumbai: Today's gold auction by the Bank of England (BOE) failed to have any immediate impact on the local bullion market as the yellow metal managed to hold steady.
BOE on Tuesday auctioned 25 ton of gold at the second of the five auctions at an allotment price of $255.75 per ounce. The next two auctions will be held on November 29 and January 25, 2000, dealers said.
Silver, however, showed weak trend as ready silver (.999 fineness) declined further by Rs 15 to end at Rs 7970 from the previous close of Rs 7985. Raw silver (.916 fineness) fell by Rs 20 to Rs 7840 from Rs 7860 and tenderable silver dropped to Rs 7975 from the previous close of Rs 7990.
Standard gold at Rs 4050, 22-carat gold at Rs 3745and ten-tola gold bar (.999 purity) at Rs 47,500 held steady.
Caustic soda flake easy
Soda ash, caustic soda flake and stable bleaching powder edged lower by Rs 10 per bag on sufficient arrivals. Mentha oils also declined further by Rs 5 to Rs 600 per kg on poor offtake.
On the other hand citric acid went up by Rs 50 per 50 kg in view of increased sales.
Onion firm
As arrivals declined to around 100-115 trucks, prices of potato spurted in Azadpur mandi. Superior Shimla variety sold at Rs 180 and store variety at Rs 230 per 80 kg.
Garlic arrivals were around 400 bags and as ready stock declined, prices moved up by Rs 50-100 per 40 kg. Phool garlic of UP went up to Rs 1000-1100, medium Rs 600-700, ladwa Rs 800-900 and China variety to Rs 1150-1300.Onion also was marked up following prices rise reports from other market. Superior onion firmed up by Rs 25-30 to Rs 300-350 per 40 kg.
