Siemens bags Rs 65 cr contract

Siemens has won a Rs 65 crore contract for supply of GSM infrastructure and services to Emtel of Mauritius. The GSM equipment will be sourced from Siemens AG and Siemens Public Communication Networks Ltd, India will provide the services including RF planning, network plan, project management, installation and commissioning, integration, technical support, training and O&M support. Siemens Public Communication Networks managing director Wefelscheid finalised the deal with the Emtel managing director Currimjee, recently.

AIMA president elected

The chairman and managing director of Crompton Greaves, KK Nohria, has been elected president of All India Management Association. Nohria, who is also president of Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will succeed Krishan Kalra, managing director of Apex Infotech, AIMA said in a statement. TT thomas, executive director of Fact Ltd and Rajive kaul, chairman and managing director of Nicco Corp Ltd have also been elected Sr vice-president and vice-president respectively of the association, the statement said.

Philips dial-a-surveillance

Consumer electronics major Philips India has announced the launch of its new Alligro LTC 4300 series phoneline system. When connected to an existing CCTV surveillance system, it enhances the range of reception considerably using the common telephone line connection to transmit and receive images and voice.

Alcatel carrier data unit

Alcatel India has formed the carrier data division in India which will launch a wide range of Internet solution for carriers and service providers using the latest Internet technologies. The division will also act as the centre for expertise for Internet protocol technology for other areas of Alcatel networking activities. Other services include remote access using dial-up lines and high speed Internet access.

Deepak Nitrite posts Rs 160cr sales

Deepak Nitrite Ltd has posted a gross profit of Rs 31.5 crore on a turnover of Rs 160 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 1999. The company, part of the Rs 800 crore Deepak Group of companies, manufactures organic and inorganic and speciality chemicals.
